A homeless count was conducted by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority.

January 11, 2005
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors allocated $1,560,000 in start-up
funing for a program to prevent homelessness among welfare families.

January 4, 2005
The Los Angeles Board of Supervisors began developing a plan to
prevent individuals in the care of a County agency from becoming homeless.

October 5 - 18, 2004
Seven community meetings were held to solicit comments and suggestions about the
“ Draft Framework for the 10-Year Strategic Plan to End Homelessness in Los Angeles”
prepared by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority.

September 30, 2004
Volunteer working groups began meeting to formulate recommendations for the strategic plan.

September 24, 2004
The Economic Roundtable completed the expanded, final version of “Homeless in LA”.

September 23, 2004
Third Meeting of the Blue Ribbon Panel
- The “Draft Framework for the 10-Year Strategic Plan to End Homelessness in Los Angeles”
(prepared by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority) was reviewed and
discussed by panel members.

June 11, 2004
The “10-Year Strategy to End Homelessness” completed by the Economic Roundtable and the
Institute for the Study of Homelessness and Poverty, but not released by LAHSA.

March 8, 2004
The Institute for the Study of Homelessness and Poverty at the Weingart Center completed
“ Homelessness in Los Angeles: A Summary of Recent Research”.

February 5, 2004
Second meeting of the Blue Ribbon Panel.
- Letter of inquiry to local governments approved.

November 19, 2003 to February 28, 2004
Seventeen community meetings were held throughout Los Angeles County to present
research findings and receive suggestions from community members about how to
end homelessness.

November 13, 2003
First Meeting of the Blue Ribbon Panel.
- Mission statement approved.
- Strategic planning schedule approved.

November 6, 2003
The Economic Roundtable completed a preliminary research report titled “Homeless in LA”.

August 28, 2003
Community leaders received invitations to become members of a Blue Ribbon Panel to
oversee preparation of the Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness.

June 12, 2003
A Convening Committee of ten elected officials announced the formation of “Bring LA Home,
The Partnership to End Homelessness”.

July 1, 2003
At the request of the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority and the Los Angeles Coalition to End Hunger and Homelessness, the Economic Rountable and the Institute for the Study of Homelessness and Poverty at the Weingart Center began:

- Organizaing a committee of subjet area experts
- Preparing research reports
